Information taken from genealogy library. com... Bennington Family page 96. Also in Gallia Co. 1850 census Daniel is Listed as a "cooper". (Barrel maker) Per Adalee Boston Lynch: The Gallia, OH census lists Daniel, Rachael, William, Catherine, Caroline, Jacob and Daniel living beside his brother George W. and family. The first deed recorded in Mason County Courthouse for Daniel R Boston was in 1864, the year of son Samuels birth, who was born in Gallia County, Oh (thus surmising that Daniel and Rachel lived in Gallia County before moving to Letart, WV Abt 1864) This was 5 acres of Letart, that Daniel and George purchased for $50 dollars from Lewis T. and Esther Pitchard. Records at the courthouse indicate in 1885, a 60 ft. right of way was purchased by the Ohio River Railroad Company for $20 on the property owned by Daniel R and brother George W. Boston. This property was reportedly situated below Letart in Mason County (possible Brinker Hollow), lying upon the Ohio River located at the narrows below Letart and bounded on the upper side by land owned by Catherine Black and on the lower side, by land owned by L.T. Pritchard. This right of way included necessary ground for slope, cuts, and fill for the road through the land. In 1892 this property was sold by Daniel and Rachel to Charles Black for $150. The 1870 Mason County Census of West Virginia list Daniel's occupation as a cooper. |
