ROBERT DUKES, SO [Somerset] Co., m. Elizabeth Dixon on -- April 1674 by George Johnson, Justice of thePeace. She may have been m. 1st George Wilson. . . . Robert m. 2nd Frances Gillet, dau. of Jarman and Ann Gillet. . . .
Robert Dukes, SO Co., immigrated into this province from Virginia by 1671 and recorded his cattle mark which was described as "a flower de luce of each ear & one nick under the left ear" on 20 April 1671. . . .
On 17 Feb 1672/3 George Wilson and wife Elizabeth, SO Co., conveyed 150 a. of tract Dixon's Lott (formerly owned by Ambrose Dixon) to Robert Dukes. On 14 July 1685 "Robert Dukes and Elizabeth Dukes (Elizabeth Wilson)" conveyed 150 acres of tract Dixon's Lott in Morumsco called Dukes Place to George Wilson.
The children of Robert and Elizabeth Dukes recorded in SO Co. were Elizabeth (b. 7 Feb 1674/5 at Morumsco), Mary (b. 11 Jul 1677 at Anamessex), Robert (b. 12 Nov 1672), John (b. 13 June 1684), and Sarah (b. 5 Aug 1687 about two o'clock in the morning).
