From the Calhoun County Genweb Site: LOWERS, Abraham (Abram), Co. A, 3rd Virginia State Line (Moccasin Rangers). Enlisted on 1 Mar. 1862 in Greenbrier Co., Va. Present on 28 Feb. 1863 roll. Private, Co. E, 14th Virginia Cavalry. Enlisted in Calhoun Co. 26 Feb. 1863. Present thru April 1863.Private, Co. A 19th Virginia Cavalry. Born Kanawha Co. about 1839. Age 21, farmer, Calhoun Co. 1860 Census. Reported absent without leave on last roll. He was a prisoner of war at the time, escaped and rejoined his company. Enlisted Williamsburg, Greenbrier Co., W.Va. 1 Mar. 1863. Not stated if he was present or absent on the muster-in-roll dated March 1863. Age 41, farmer, Washington District, Calhoun Co. 1880 Census. Mann The 126th Ohio Volunteer Infantry (OVI) was organized September 4, 1862 under Colonel Benjamin F. Smith, it mover the same month to Parkersburg, West Virginia and then to Cumberland, Md. It guarded the Railroad during the winter, and in the spring of 1863 operated against guerillas in West Virginia. In June the regiment returned to the vicinity of Martinsburg and was severely pressed by the advance of Lees army, but escaped to Harpers Ferry and afterwards moved to Washington City. It soon re-joined the Army of the Potomac and operated in Virginia under Grant. It took part in the battles of Snickers Gap, Opequan, Fishers Hill the Wilderness and Petersburg, and joined the pursuit of Lee until the surrender. The Regiment was mustered out June 25, 1865, and lost during itsterm of service over 500 men in battle. This diary was written by a soldier in Company F, 126th OVI. Company F was recruited in Augusta, Carrol County, Ohio.
