Notes

I want to share with you a story of a beautiful, wonderful and gracious Christian lady named Pauline.
Pauline and my mom were very close friends, serving together for years in the Riley Elementary School PTA and other organizations, various church committees and in other areas. Pauline was married to James Bebee and they had three children, Frances (deceased), Jim JR and Donald.
My mom passed away 31 July 1982 and James Bebee followed two months later. Dad was literally 'climbing the walls' during the first three years following mom's passing. That is until one bright, sunny Sunday morning in April 1985, when the Good Lord intervened. That Sunday morning Pauline had been sitting in church, watching dad who was singing in the choir, and she was wondering to herself, "why has Norman taken several of the other widows in this church out to dinner, but not me?" So as Pauline would chuckle to us later, "I decided to take matters into my own hands." And so she did. Immediately after the service that Sunday morning, Pauline 'accidentally' backed into dad who turned around, smiled at Pauline and said "I'm sorry." Pauline told us, "One look into that smiling face and those deep blues eyes and I was a goner." Dad and Pauline were married two months later, 29 June 1985 in Glenwood Baptist Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Pauline told me, "My 1st husband was an abuser, but I forgave him long ago. I now thank the Good Lord for having placed your dad into my life. Norman Ragsdale is the great love of my life that I have waited for all these years."
Pauline became not my stepmother, but my 2nd mom because she loved me and my family as though we were her blood family. Pauline's heart was filled with true Christian love, caring, compassion and helpfulness towards everyone she met. She also had a marvelous wit and sense of humor that were displayed quite frequently. My dad could be very stubborn at times, but Pauline had a way of melting dad's stubborness with one sweet, little smile and that wonderful, loving little way she had of patting you on the top of your head.
In 1995 Pauline's memory began failing quite abruptly and by fall of 1997 she was diagnosed with advanced Alzheimer disease. Pauline had to be placed into the Green Country Alzheimer Home during September 1999 and my dad passed away 10 January 2000.
Last night, Thursday, 17 September 2004, Pauline 'Polly' Frances (Wofford) Bebee Ragsdale cast off her mortal bonds and went home to be her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Free forever from the chains of Alzheimer that had ravaged first her beautiful mindand spirit, and then her body. As we grieve, we are also rejoicing in the knowledge that my beautiful 2nd mom is happy and healthy for eternity with our Lord above.
Pauline's service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, 20 September 2004 in the Mobley-Dodson Funeral Home, Sand Springs, Oklahoma. She will be laid to rest beside my dad, the great love of Pauline's life, in the Woodland Cemetery in Sand Springs.
I know that you will all excuse me now because we have things to do and writing this tribute to my 2nd mom has been wonderful, but difficult.
With love to all,
Liz
